Today I spent time gazing at a trapezium of white wall beside the smart facade of Albert Terrace in Union Street. I was trying to make it into what David Milne called a 'dazzle spot' - a central place that draws the eye.
As you can see, first of all, I worked on site - much to the amusement of passers-by, using an old piece of file paper, trying to get the tones. I was pushed for time because I had a rare hospital appointment to keep. But afterwards, I tried to translate things - in primary blue, vermilion and yellow ochre. The white is mainly the original canvas. I regretted not having taken a reference photograph.
