A loose attempt at one of Bedford's oldest hotels/pubs - The Mill Hotel in Mill Street. The evening light slid in from the left as people 'milled' about outside the Gadsby Street entrance. A number of passers-by gave me compliments - perhaps just for choosing to pay attention to a pub. One man kindly admired the looseness of my watercolour, generously ignoring that I hadn't been able to fit the chimney in. The customers joshed with me about their 'best side' and some kindly came to look at my work and make nice noises. When the early Saturday night clubbers appeared after 6 pm, I decided it was time to leave. |
