Here's a man reassembling the cages used by the warehouse pickers to collect orders to be loaded onto lorries for distribution. The yellow implement he holds in his right hand is a knife for cutting out shreds of plastic wrapping that clog the cage's wheels. I'm not sure precisely where this process fits in the cycle of goods-in, goods-out, but it happens at the back of the warehouse in bright sunlight - one of the only jobs which happens in natural light. I liked the way that the sun was so bright it actually made the bars of the cages disappear in a sea of white. The man's thick, shiny, red work-gloves add something surreal. |
