This is my second attempt today: watercolour on the brow of the hill on Kimbolton Road - you can just see a house, number 240, over the hedge. I sat on the verge, looking at the lollipop-shaped tree with the big oak beyond and below. I thought about the geometry of the road, its turn and slope and all its passing traffic making a speed reminder sign flash intermittently. I liked the lamppost with its dark top in shadow and its base lighter than the hedge behind it. There's something satisfying about its verticality parallel to the tree-trunk here on the curve. I liked the composition and the dip in the kerb for the driveway. |
