These three men were repairing a collapsed section of Pennine Road. A fourth man had gone to get the roller. In the afternoon they would heat some bituminous tape around the edges where puddles can form. I liked their black barrow on the verge and the scattering of black sticky stones standing out against the dusty tarmac. This is in gouache on magenta Daler Rowney pastel paper. It will be for sale at my exhibition, 'Road', in September. |
