9 Newnham Road, Bedford: the Panacea society museum. 90 mins ink and watercolour: 4-5:30pm. High Victoriana. Acute gables, tall chimneys, pronounced brick courses, fancy woodwork and tilework. The plane and holm-oak trees from the park (off-stage left) were casting shadows across the wall - much more pronounced than my insipid watercolour. Anachronistically, young men roared past in souped-up Mercedes. The couple were walking into town from the river - which is only a hundred yards off-stage right. It was a balmy evening with a light, refreshing breeze. |
