Here's the River Great Ouse in spate, overflowing the weir by the new cut. To the left, behind the willows, is the old iron railway bridge which used to carry the track to Sandy. A return to watercolour and ink, sat on the bank behind Aspects cinema this afternoon in the aftermath of storm Dudley. Flotsam, weed, reed and organic debris cling to the trunks of willows as the muddy water rushes everything else downstream. Today the river was cloudy and swirling, the embankment higher up only just holding. Tomorrow, family business obliges me to travel West, hopefully not far enough to meet the much dreaded storm Eunice. |
