This is the view across the railway line, looking north up Sidney Road, part of which may be demolished if the East West Rail line ever gets built. I sat next to the road-bridge and tried to understand this landscape of gantries and wires above the rails. Any proposed new line would turn right towards Cambridge and, I guess, involve at least the partial alteration of this view. So, carpe diem! As I was sketching some passers-by stopped to look. One asked, 'Have you seen anything interesting?' There's no real answer to that. I acknowledge that it's not everyone's idea of a good view. But I liked the angles of rails, wires, rooftops, railings - and the far blue trees beyond. Hard to explain. |
