Howbury Hall Longhorn cattle in acrylic. Bullocks in the foreground, I think. Or rather, the same bullock twice. I played around with putting the cattle in different positions. I liked some of their grazing/ambling shapes, and the way their 'finching' - the white strip they all have on their backs - creates a bright outline. I also like the way that a previous painting on the same canvas shows through, creating the foliage of the far tree, for example. It's interesting to paint with an element of chance. |
