This is the view from the top floor of River Street multi-storey car park. I'm looking down and across the river to County Hall. Below me, I see a van with a ladder on its roof taking the roundabout for home. From up high the roads resemble a map or a children's play carpet. The road ahead leads only to electric car-charging points and parking for Star Rowing club. The Christmas lights have yet to be taken down. There's a rowing four on the river. On the far bank County Hall toasts in the sun. The blue line of hills on the horizon may be called the Green Sand Ridge, I'm not sure. I did an A4 ink sketch of this scene a few days ago: this is A2, painted in acrylic. |
