Freesias, lilies, roses, irises - a bouquet for condolence. A change from shoreline stones. I guess there have been quite a few of these sent in the last year, and there will be more. Odd how we choose to mark someone's passing both with fast-fading flowers as a comment on the brevity of mortal beauty, and also with stone to sustain remembrance beyond our own memories. Painting the flowers is an attempt to make their beauty last a little while longer. Sic transit gloria mundi. |
