Two autumn sketches today.
An advert for working quickly. In the morning, I started with pen and then paint. I had to adjust and bodge where the perspective was wonky, but I used darker approximations of paint more boldly - because I used only one thick brush: 45 minutes.
In the afternoon, I began with pencil and then moved to ink - with a certain loss of perpendicularity. Also, by fussing, my colours were too pale, except for the autumn leaves. The scene changed rapidly as cars and people came and went, and more importantly, the shadows thickened quickly and I lost definition. 90 minutes.
