Church Square, Bedford - locally known as 'pigeon square' - where a girl enjoys feeding the birds. I sat on one of the benches and sketched. People came and went. The ones who stayed enjoyed the sun. It's a good place to stop and talk through your problems, it seems, and to hear some 'lively' discussions. And for a pigeon, it's ideal - the free hand-outs are excellent. The shadows moved round to the right by the time I left, and the north wind blew clouds across the sun. We have had rain this evening. I wanted to catch the brightness of the figures - the mother almost blanched by sunlight - in contrast to the darkness of the arcade behind them. |
