This is a view I've painted before. It's a quiet spot at the Finger Lakes in Priory Country Park. I thought I'd go there today to see what's changed. I sat a bit further back so I could catch the red sorrel (?) on the near bank (which was flamboyantly green earlier in the year), as well as the willows on the far bank. In between are clumps of reeds, feathery pink and bright green. The water weed and lily pads swathe and speckle the surface. The white bird that flew off when I arrived might have been an egret, but I'm not sure. It was wading near the island on the right. At about 6, the sky cleared and the sun spot-lit some distant trees. My plan is to paint the same view for the next few days, weather permitting. |
