Easter Sunday. Tulips in the untended garden jungle - also comfrey and berries of some kind of iris. The tulips closed as I sketched. Quite an operation with those waxy petals. Unsurprisingly, they will have fallen apart within days. But while they flowered they were visited by bees - as I witnessed but could not catch. Quant’è bella giovinezza che si fugge tuttavia! Chi vuole esser lieto, sia, di doman non c’è certezza. Oh how beautiful is youth And quickly does it flee, Be happy if you want to, For tomorrow may not come. Lorenzo de' Medici (1449-1492) |
