5 Nov: 04 Tippytoes - this is the first of what I hope will be a series of acrylic paintings: a group of workers in the AF Blakemore warehouse. The two in the centre seem to be scanning the barcodes on the shelves. The chap on the right is watching the guy in the foreground - head and shoulders of a lollop driver, I think. I prepared the board with a reddish ground to contrast the yellows and blacks. Where the background shows through, it gives the painting a kind of glow. Acrylic is liberating after the less forgiving discipline of watercolour. I |
