Three 30 min sketches from today (to compensate for none yesterday). High tide at 11 a.m. with one man beach-combing outside Tate Modern; inside the Lubaina Himid exhibition; on the embankment afterwards.
The sun came out and I caught up with a friend at Tate Modern. We found the exhibition to be 'playful and provocative' and, this time, I was struck by its narrative line, riddled with metaphor about where we've come from culturally, and where we're going. The exhibition strengthens through its questions and its tableaux of our inter-woven histories. The accompanying voices make it operatic.
