Thursday 21 July: Looking south down the rapids. The eastern channel still has enough water for the canoeists - and some intrepid swimmers. Canoe 'gates' - those vertical poles - are suspended from wires that cross the river. I was intrigued by the web of lines and guy-ropes that stretch from bank to bank - visibly bright where they cross shadow, disappearing against the sunlit foliage and then reappearing as black lines crossing the sky. With help from my reference photos, I hope to work on this. |
