A family walk in bright August sunlight along the embankment. The sky and leaves shine through the veil of dark leaves as if they were made of stained glass and the leaves of lead. In fact there is something almost sacred about space: the procession entering a willow vault supported by fluted pillars and blessed by water. This is acrylic but even the fresh paint (a second helping) became sticky and hard to work after a few hours. This is on canvas 16" x 16" and will be included in my 'River' exhibition, 13-17 Sept in the Basement Gallery. |
