A cold day to be standing around. Much measuring, digging and resurfacing at the construction site. They're widening the road and creating a parallel cycle track. I took some photos.
The action was all behind barriers, so, in order to see it, I had to sketch standing up. A quick pencil sketch might have been sensible. But, oh no, my chosen medium for 're-surfacing' my paper was watercolour. This proved to be a complex balancing act of waterpot and paintbox on top of the narrow plastic barriers - much to the amusement of my hi-vis audience. The water was slow to dry, and when I found that my 'waterproof' ink lacked an essential characteristic, I decided to pack up. My feet were numb with cold - and it was definitely lunchtime. Later, I had more success in 're-surfacing' my bed: I slept very successfully in the afternoon. |
