L is for Lansdowne. I biked here past motorists queueing for the pumps and felt myself lucky. The rain had stopped, the conkers were falling and the sun was shining.
This house is one of an identical pair - 31, with its twin, 29, to the right. I wanted the view through to the backs of Warwick Road - and I liked the pink stucco (yet to finish the lozenges - though you can see them sketched in pencil) and the warm red brick with the dark defining shadows.
I spoke to a friendly postman about my alphabetical street-painting project. I showed him some of my sketches; of course, he could identify all the roads. Not surprisingly, he was very knowledgeable about the postal routes and rounds of MK40. When I got home, I thought I'd include him and his trolley.
