Today I worked on darkening the tones of the shadows, but I can see I have much to do. I got distracted by researching wild mushroom edibility, by picking apples and by building a bonfire.
I was pleased that after 3 attempts at this scene, I'd finally found a more interesting composition. But that made me cautious of laying down irretrievably dark colours. The trouble is that caution brings fussiness about detail, and the directness of swift brushstrokes is lost. And I spent too much time on the Fiat 500 and the furled European flag. Maybe things will come together tomorrow.
