This is where I got to with my painting today, between talking to visitors in the gallery. We talked variously about Spain, Derbyshire, Bristol, Biggleswade, Thaxted, St Neots and Dublin - holidays and histories. It seems that an art exhibition is a catalyst for a number of other conservations about people's lives and their opinions about beauty, place and meaning. Some people have advocated the use of social media to promote art. I feel that this website is quite enough - and word of mouth. This morning, somewhat nervously, I added the yellow - but I still have a few adjustments to make to the water. I have sheared and stretched from my source photos and need to review my naval geometry. When I started painting these rowers, a friend offered to buy the canvas - because of its subject matter and treatment. I hope that she will not feel that it has been overworked. |
