The last yellow leaves of November on the avenue of trees behind the hedge which leads up to the Pavilion cafe in Bedford park. I was struck by the purple branches and green trunks, as well as the golds and browns amongst the grass. The winter sun at midday cast strong shadows and some of the pale tones were almost bleached in contrast. Grey clouds over the allotments this afternoon, and weak intermittent rain. I was digging and raking, preparing the ground to plant more garlic, onions and broad beans. This evening using my dad's bequest of graph paper, I made a plan of the layout for 2023 and plotted where the different crops would go. |
