Swan and her eight growing cygnets paddling upstream in front of Bedford's Shire Hall. This is painted on a canvas primed with gold, black and cerulean blue. The cygnets are so naturally camouflaged that they are almost undetectable against the shadowy ripples. In contrast, the adult swan appears blindingly white as she enters the sunshine.
