This morning on the allotment. Strong sunlight on the shed. I was trying to explore the colours in the shadows. The sun strikes the planks unevenly and the shadows emphasise the warp and irregularities of a pallet-made shed. The sky was not blotched but I made the mistake of mixing insufficient colour and then trying to rectify after the first wash had dried. In the end we are all time beings. You can't fight it. In the afternoon there was digging and fertilising. Then there was too much drinking and laughing in the sun. There will be a frost tonight. So I raked soil over the tender potato leaves which peeped out only yesterday. Apparently broad beans and onions can cope. |
