A lake alongside the disused railway track to Sandy. This is only accessible by a narrow path between the brambles - inaccessible without sickle and secateurs. I painted this view in March and was curious to see what it looked like five months later. The water was less still, more unsettled by breeze. We hope this heralds rain in the next few days. Despite the fierce heat, the water level seems undiminished - so life can go on. Some animal moved amongst the reeds. A flock of geese cackled one way and then the other, disturbed by a passing helicopter. I was heeding an artist's advice to look for patterns in the complexity of foliage - triangles and parallel lines. Reflections are scribbled across the undulating surface. |
