Well, here's a sentry-box of a shed on the allotment this afternoon: lichen on the roof, raspberry canes in the foreground, in the background the fence posts, the path and the sports field. It is a narrow shed and the soft light was catching it. I sat in the setting sun and painted what I could see.There are even some daffodils in there if you look closely. What attracted me was its starkness - something almost iconic. It's my neighbour's shed with its bitumen roof. Minimalist. To be honest, the subject matter was largely determined by where I could sit. That's always the case, I suppose. |
