Evening light through the plane trees on the river embankment opposite Russell Park. A couple emerge out of the dark avenue of trees. The soft light creates bars of gold between purple shadow and randomly spotlights foliage. I sat by the path scribbling the deep darks and then washing on colour in darkening hues. What I've ended up with is far too pale. Earlier today, I bought two rectangular mounts for larger watercolours. I'll post these tomorrow to give a better sense of some 'exhibition-ready' examples.
