Another hour and a half spent painting by the river. Swans and ducks were constant, but the gaggle of geese and the picnickers were too quick to catch. Uninterrupted sunshine today and the river seemed greener.
Yersterday I re-stitched my old folding canvas chair. Much of today was spent adjusting my easel to make it more stable and serviceable. It's still a 10-minute hassle to disentangle it from its bungees - and tangle it again when packing up - so I've tried to make some improvements. I'm getting better at tethering, but in high winds things will be trickier. I still have to sort out how to dispose of unused paint, carry enough bags and tissues, and protect against sun and rain. In 10 days time I'll be competing with other 'plein air' painters on a beach. I hope we won't have to lug stuff too far. And I hope there'll be loos. |
