Here's my latest commissioned watercolour portrait, just completed: a doctor in his surgery surrounded by all his paraphernalia. A rare sight. I only get phone calls - if I'm lucky! I expected to be asked for a portrait of the man alone, but my customer wanted door and shelves etc. She was right: context matters. I enjoyed painting the stethoscope, the wires on the desk, the mug on the shelf - even the strange five-legged swivel chair. Not sure about the bin though. I'm relieved to have hung my small spring exhibition at the Pavilion cafe in Bedford Park. Always takes longer than I expect - framing, fixing wire, labelling, advertising etc. Adding another two paintings today which I forgot to hang yesterday! What am I like? |
