A friend and skilled allotmenteer. I need more practice making confident marks of colour. I was surprised by the different mauves and reds - and I haven't adjusted the skin tones because I became distracted by the halo of sunlight. This is from a snapshot when we were having a lunch-break - eating outside - one of the most life-saving therapies of the years of lockdown. Behind is the usual allotment clutter - old pallets, bins, planks and unpruned saplings. It's amazing what the vegetables have to put up with, and nature continues to be awesome. Despite the drought, there are plums on my neighbour's tree, blackberries on the hedge, and undeserved handfuls of French beans and tomatoes. |
